Rehearsal for Revolution is a set of monoprints created for the Detroit Artist Market’s “Now and Then” show remembering the 1967 Rebellion in Detroit. The show opened in April 2017 and featured a variety of local artists. My artist statement for the show is as follows:
“The truth is that mass demonstrations are rehearsals for revolution: not strategic or even tactical ones, but rehearsals of revolutionary awareness.” – John Berger
riot: a violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd.

rebellion: an act of violent or open resistance to an established government or ruler.
demonstration: a public display of group feelings toward a person or cause

c : activity or movement designed to effect fundamental changes in the socioeconomic situation
